This makes migrating to a new operating system much easier and less risky, by allowing you to keep your current reliable operating system exactly the same.

The Safest Way to Install an Operating System
System Commander safely and automatically prepares your hard drive to accept your new OS while protecting everything already on your computer - data and other OSes. Simply choose the OS you plan to install, and the OS Wizard will set up your system! System Commander automatically partitions your hard drive for increased protection.

Exclusive Undo Technology
System Commander's undo feature is the safest and easiest way to return your system to its original configuration. Using the BackStep® Wizard, you can see all of the actions that the OS Wizard previously performed and any partitioning work. Simply select the operations that you wish to reverse and the BackStep Wizard will undo those steps. Nothing could be easier!

System Requirements

- CPU: Intel Pentium or higher processor
- CD or DVD drive for installation
Either Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista or DOS installed, or a boot diskette from one of these operating systems with access to the CD/DVD drives.
- 20 MB of unused disk space for installation (less for Windows 9x/Me or DOS).
- Partitioning operations requires 64 MB RAM while running. For some operations, such as resize or conversion of very large partitions, significant additional RAM might be necessary.
- Windows or DOS installed (NTFS/FAT32 or FAT), or you must have a primary FAT partition on the first drive below 8 GB or a primary FAT32 partition anywhere on the drive.
- Acrobat Reader 5 or higher to access the online user's guide.
- Optional: Two 1.44 MB diskettes ready to make the optional utility and restart diskettes. For systems without diskette drives, the System Commander program CD is bootable and can be used for directly running Partition operations and the restart feature, or you can create a bootable CD/DVD from the included ISO image.

*Note: DOS install capability available with CD (boxed) version of product only.

I have been using System Commander since Version 3 and I have to say that it is one of my favorite pieces of software. Not only is it easy to set up and use but it allows users to boot from a huge array of operating systems. The interface is configurable to boot from the last used OS or to select any of the OS's listed instantly or after a predetermined delay. System Commander automatically prepares your hard drive to accept your new OS while protecting everything already on your computer. System Commander 9 now supports Windows Vista making it a totally versatile boot manager and a great program for years to come.
