AllSync performs synchronization, updating, duplication, archiving and backup of files and directories under Microsoft Windows. AllSync supports all storage media which can be accessed via a drive letter or network path. Various preconfigured copy modes are available for your copy tasks. A wide variety of copy options enable you to adapt the various copy modes to your individual requirements.

All the settings required for a specific copy procedure between two folders are stored in a profile. You can create as many profiles as you like and administer them according to project in the profile list.

AllSync also offers you the option of creating easy-to-interpret copy previews so that you get an optimal picture of the actions to be performed during a copy operation. All the actions to files and folders are conveniently displayed side by side in two report windows. The actions of the folders and files can be checked and edited by you so that the copy operation goes as you intended.

AllSync Scheduler enables you to automatically run copy operations by scheduling them. Various timing options are available for this purpose, e.g. daily, weekly, monthly, etc. AllSync Scheduler can also be installed as a Windows service, thus enabling copy operations to be automatically run when no user is logged in to the system.

There are a wide variety of filter options available to you in AllSync for excluding files and folders from a copy operation by virtue of their path, name or properties.

In the interest of data protection you can have all the files which are deleted, overwritten or moved by a copy operation first backed up to the Windows Recycle Bin or to a separate backup folder.

Other features: AllSync supports ZIP compression format, enabling space-saving backup of your data. AllSync can be invoked via the command line using various command-line options. AllSync enables the access permissions of files and folders to be copied. AllSync supports the use of Windows environment variables in path specifications.

Profiles

Copy Preview

* AllSync offers you the option of creating easy-to-interpret copy previews of your profiles so that you get an optimal picture of the actions to be performed.
* The actions shown in the copy preview can be edited by you so that the copy operation goes as you intended.

Copy Options

* You can have external programs started upon initiating and completing a profile.
* You can run Visual Basic scripts upon initiating and completing a profile.
* When initiating a profile, you can connect a local directory or an enabled network folder using a drive letter during a copy operation and remove it afterwards.
* When initiating a profile, you can establish a remote link and have it disconnected when finished.
* You can pause, terminate and start various Windows services upon initiating and completing a profile.

ZIP Data Compression

* AllSync supports ZIP compression format, thus enabling space-saving backup of your data.
* Additional protection can be provided for ZIP files by employing AES (256-bit) encryption.
* AllSync supports various compression methods: Deflate, Deflate64 and BWT.
* ZIP files can also be split into several archives as needed.

Data Protection

* In the interest of data protection you can have all files which are deleted, moved or overwritten by a copy operation moved to a separate backup folder.
* Generations of backups: specify the maximum number of backup folders.
* Data compression: compress all the data of the backup folder into a single ZIP file.
* You also have the option of backing up data to the Windows Recycle Bin.

Filter Functions

* Entire folders or individual files can be excluded from a copy operation on the basis of their path.

Copying Files and Folders

* AllSync can process files and folders with a path length of up to 32,000 characters.

Practical Examples

Synchronizing Two Computers
Problem: You alternate between your desktop computer and your laptop. Various files and folders are created, modified and deleted on both computers. The changes on one computer are to be transferred to the other computer.

Solution: AllSync recognizes where changes have occurred and synchronizes the data between your desktop and laptop so that the same data status is present on both computers.

Data Imaging (1:1 copy) between Two Computers
Problem: A mirror image of the data of one computer is to be made on another computer in the network.

Solution: AllSync creates an exact copy of the data items on the other computer. In this case, changes are only made as needed on the destination machine, meaning the entire quantity of data is not recopied.

Data Imaging of More Than One Computer in a Network
Problem: A data image of several computers in the network is to be made on a backup server.

Solution: AllSync creates an image on the backup server of the data currently present on each machine in the network.

Perform Data Backup and Automatically Shut Windows Down
Problem: After working at a computer the modified data is to be backed up and Windows automatically shut down.

Solution: AllSync's Shortcut Manager enables you to create a shortcut of your backup profile on the Windows desktop. This shortcut enables you to initiate data backup quickly and conveniently, and have Windows automatically shut down.

Archiving Old Data
Problem: Files of a certain age or older are to be automatically moved to the backup server in the network.

Solution: AllSync moves all files of a certain age or older to the network backup server.

Data Backup into a ZIP File
Problem: Backup is to be done into a single ZIP file.

Solution: AllSync compresses all files into one ZIP file.

Daily Data Imaging
Problem: Data on a file server is to be replicated every day on a backup server in the background.

Solution: AllSync Scheduler runs as a service on the file server and automatically starts data imaging at a specific time.

Hourly Data Imaging
Problem: The data on a file server is to be replicated on a backup server every hour.

Solution: AllSync Scheduler initiates data imaging between the file server and the backup server every hour.

Data Backup from Monday to Friday
Problem: A backup is to be made every evening at 10 p.m. from Monday to Friday.

Solution: AllSync Scheduler initiates data backup from Monday to Friday at 10 p.m.

Sync Operation When Starting Windows
Problem: When booting your computer its data status is to be synched with a server.

Solution: AllSync Scheduler automatically initiates data synching with the server when starting Windows.

Automatic Data Backup When Exiting Windows
Problem: The data of a machine is to be automatically backed up onto the backup server when shutting Windows down.

Solution: AllSync Scheduler runs in the background and automatically backs up all data onto the backup server when shutting Windows down.

Data Backup When Connecting an External Hard Disk
Problem: Data backup is to be automatically run when connecting an external hard disk.

Automatic Data Backup When Modifying Work Files
Problem: Work data is to be backed up automatically upon a certain number of changes being made.

Solution: AllSync Scheduler runs in the background and monitors the changes being made to your work data. A backup of the modified work data is automatically made upon a specified number of changes being reached.

Data Synchronization via a Network Link
Problem: Data synchronization is to be initiated as soon as a network link has been established to a particular computer.

Solution: AllSync Scheduler runs in the background and automatically initiates data synchronization as soon as the network link to the computer has been established.
